About George Dickel 17 Year Old Reserve Tennessee Whisky<\/h2>\n

George A. Dickel was a merchant who gained a reputation for selling some of the smoothest whiskey in the region. Today, George Dickel whiskey draws inspiration from the eponymous man, chilling their whiskey before it’s charcoal-mellow filtered \u2015 a process known as the Lincoln County Process. George Dickel 17 Year Old Reserve Tennessee Whiskey is a limited re-release of the extremely popular original release that was sold out. Distilled and charcoal-mellowed at the Cascade Hollow Distillery, this 17-year-old spirit is wonderfully mature with toffee, date, peppery spice, and charred oak notes. The whiskey is bottled at 86 proof.<\/p>\n

About George Dickel<\/h2>\n

Forty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George A. Dickel was born in a rural town in eastern Tennessee. By 1867, Dickel was an established Nashville merchant but moved his family to the city of Tullahoma (situated in south-central Tennessee), where he purchased the Cascade Hollow Distillery. After working tirelessly at the distillery, Dickel declared that his spirits were of equal quality to the finest scotch, and followed in the Scottish tradition of spelling whisky without an “e.”<\/p>\n

While George A. Dickel Distillery was forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition, it was rebuilt in 1958 by Master Distiller Ralph Dupps. To ensure the whisky’s authenticity, Dupps obtained the original manuscripts in which Dickel detailed his unique recipe and distillation processes. Today, Master Distiller John Lunn carries on the tradition of excellence that has made Dickel whisky a symbol of quality for over a century. <\/p>\n

About American Whiskey<\/h2>\n

There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don’t fall into those two strictly regulated categories.<\/p>\n

There’s equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.<\/p>\n

And then there’s moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.<\/p>\n
