About WhistlePig The Beholden 21 Year Single Malt Whiskey<\/h2>\n

WhistlePig was founded in 2008 at an old farm in Shoreham, Vermont. Until his passing in 2018, the WhistlePig farm had been home to the founding father of craft whiskey, Master Distiller Dave Pickerell. With his help, Whistle Pig quickly rose to fame as the most awarded rye whiskey maker in the world. They are all about breaking boundaries, and whiskey age is one of them. With the oldest rye whiskey already in their collection, they have set their sights on the American single malt category, which is where WhistlePig The Beholden comes in. The whiskey was distilled from 100% malted barley through copper pot stills from Scotland. Then it patiently matured for a record-breaking 21 years before being finished in WhistlePig rye casks. 18 barrels of this limited-edition single-barrel American single malt were bottled at 92 proof.<\/p>\n

About American Whiskey<\/h2>\n

There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don’t fall into those two strictly regulated categories.<\/p>\n

There’s equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.<\/p>\n

And then there’s moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.<\/p>\n
