About Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey<\/h2>\n

Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has been hand-selected by Steve Beam, and is a marriage of 12-year-old high-rye bourbon and 7-year-old wheated\/high-rye bourbons. After the 12-year-old bourbon has been extracted from the barrels, the barrels are used once again to finish the 7-year-old bourbons. As a result, Yellowstone Bourbon has an aroma of figs, chocolate and caramel corn, and leads to a bold palate filled with rhubarb vanilla, oak and freshly-baked pie crust. The finish is rich, with hints of raspberries and maple, and incredibly smooth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a dream for my brother Paul and I to return the Yellowstone brand back to our family,\u201d says Steve Beam. \u201cWith this bourbon, both sides of our family \u2013 the Beams and the Dants \u2013 and their distilling heritage, come together. It was one of the main reasons we partnered with Luxco, to bring Yellowstone back home and begin distilling and bottling it right here at Limestone Branch.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Yellowstone<\/h2>\n

Yellowstone National Park was established in 1876 and just a few short years later, the Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brand would emerge with an equally-rich story. J.B. Dant, legendary distiller and the son of J.W. Dant, first began distilling in the late 1800s, using a “log still” instead of the more popular \u2014 yet more expensive \u2014 copper pot stills. A log still is made by hollowing out a tree trunk and lining the interior with copper pipes, a cheaper yet still effective way of distilling.<\/p>\n

As Dant\u2019s Yellowstone brand gained popularity in Kentucky, he was able to purchase other nearby distilleries and formalize his process. In the early 1900s, it was through this expansion that Dant began working more closely with M.C. Beam of the ill ustrious Beam family. Together, Dant and Beam operated their network of facilities as the Yellowstone Distillery and continued to produce Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey for “medicinal purposes” throughout Prohibition.<\/p>\n

Although the Yellowstone brand changed hands several times throughout the 20th century (first to Diageo and recently to Luxco) and eventually fell out of favor, Luxco, along with the Beam family\u2019s new Limestone Branch Distillery, has recently revitalized the brand, unearthing an old Beam family recipe and partnering with Paul and Steve Beam to create a spectacular bourbon that pays homage to the original. <\/p>\n
