About Brugal Papa Andres Rum 2018 Edition<\/h2>\n

This expression is named after Brugal founder, Don Andres Brugal. This particular blend has been in the Brugal family for five generations. This limited edition 2015 Alegria\u2014 which translates to \u2018joy\u2019 in English, was created by Jassil Villanueva Quintana, the Brugal family\u2019s first ever Maestra Ronera (female Master Blender). Alegria is a blend of rums from three different types of rare casks. The special bottle was designed by acclaimed Spanish artist Javier Mariscal, only 1,000 of these unique handmade decanters have been made.<\/p>\n

About Brugal<\/h2>\n

During the latter half of the 19th century, Andr\u00e9s Brugal Montaner \u2014 a Spanish expatriate who had emigrated to Cuba \u2014 uprooted his family and decided to take up permanent residence in the Dominican Republic. While in Cuba, Brugal had begun experimenting with the distillation of sugar cane, and upon his arrival in the Dominican Republic in 1888, Brugal opened the doors to Brugal & Co. Distillery.<\/p>\n

Today, the fourth and fifth generations of Brugal’s direct descendants continue to honor the memory of their ancestors by acting as personal guardians of the entire rum-making process at Brugal & Co. Brugal.<\/p>\n

The Brugal family recipe is a closely guarded secret, preserved in the hearts of a privileged few, passed down from generation to generation. After going through the distillation process, Brugal Rums are aged for up to eight years in hand-picked American oak casks. <\/p>\n

About Rum<\/h2>\n

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.<\/p>\n

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and a\u00f1ejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.<\/p>\n
